Military Accidents
Military accident claims are slightly more complex than other work accident claims, as there is a degree of 'assumed risk' involved in working as part of the armed forces.
However, the Ministry of Defence, like any other employer, has a duty of care towards its employees. If you've been injured during training as opposed to in combat, you may be able to claim compensation for your injuries.
We're here to help at what can be a difficult time for both you and your family.
Can I make a military accident claim?
Army, Navy and RAF employees, along with civilians employed by the Ministry of Defence (MoD), have been able to make military accident claims since 1987.
Military accident claims can be made when a member of the armed forces is injured outside of combat, and the injury was caused by their employer's (or someone else's) negligence.
Unfortunately, we're unable to help those injured in combat claim compensation. This is because claims relating to injuries sustained in combat are made through the Armed Forces Compensation Scheme (AFCS).
Military accident claims should be made within three years of the accident taking place, and you must be able to prove that you were injured in the accident, so it's important to see a doctor as soon as possible after the accident.
